National Screening Service - Patient and Public Partnership Recruitment Campaign 2024

What do Patient and Public Partnership (PPP) network members do?

The National Screening Service has four screening programmes. They are BreastCheck, BowelScreen, CervicalCheck and Diabetic RetinaScreen (an eye disease linked to diabetes). Working in partnership with us, PPPs:

  • join our project teams and committees alongside our staff sharing their views and life experiences to deliver our annual workplan.
  • provide feedback on our publications and other information sources ensuring they are easy to access, understand and act on.

Examples of recent work that our PPPs have partnered with us on include, publishing our Corporate Strategy and Equity Framework, being active on our initiative to eliminate cervical cancer in Ireland by 2040, and membership of our Quality, Safety and Risk committee. They have assisted in developing information leaflets, consent forms, factsheets and invitation letters to screening – informing people about screening, its benefits and its limitations.

Welcoming you onto our Patient and Public Partnership

We know that a diverse and inclusive PPP network is important; one that represents the people who live in Ireland today. We welcome people from different backgrounds, with different perspectives, experiences and interests. 

We are looking for people aged 18 or older who have an interest in making our health services better for everyone.

You will be an expert by experience or interest. We will provide training and supports if you need them.

 What skills or experience do I need to join?

  • a wish to share your own opinions and listen respectfully to others.
  • willing to take part in group discussions. 
  • an awareness of equality and diversity.
  • ability to meet in-person or online. We can help if you have access needs.
  • must be living in Ireland.
