PUPILS from St Cronan’s NS, Rosemount, recently took part in a vibrant collaborative art project led by ceramic artist Monica O’Meara. Working alongside members of Age Friendly Roscrea, the students co-created a beautiful clay and
ceramic mural inspired by the themes ‘Welcome, Community and Working
Together’. This intergenerational initiative celebrated community spirit,
creativity, and connection, bringing young and old together through
shared artistic expression.

Major upgrades officially unveiled at Kilkenny’s Woodstock Gardens. A new Inclusivity and Accessibility Enhancement Scheme has been opened at Woodstock Gardens and Arboretum by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the
Gaeltacht Dara Calleary. The new enhancement scheme ensures the estate is now even more accessible, through over 1.5km of upgraded paths and trails, improving user-friendliness and access for all; installation of accessible seating, with age-friendliness and comfort in mind; and inclusive play equipment and communication signage at Woodstock Playground, supporting children and families of all abilities.

The council acknowledged the contributions of all involved, including the Woodstock
Gardens and Arboretum Committee and further appreciation was extended to project partners, including the Irish Wheelchair Association, Kilkenny Age Friendly Forum, Trail Kilkenny, Kilkenny Tourism Officer, and local residents.

A new walking trail and various enhancements have been unveiled at Jenkinstown Woods in Kilkenny by the Minister for Rural and Community Development and the
Gaeltacht Dara Calleary.

The redevelopment at Jenkinstown Wood includes rehabilitation of existing looped trails, the creation of a new fully accessible 1.2km route, upgraded signage, an
access ramp connecting to the car park to the enhanced picnic, age-friendly and
wheel-chair accessible seating.

Cathaoirleach Cllr PJ O’Hanlon officially launched the Monaghan Older Persons
Information Booklet in a packed hall in Tydavnet Community Centre on Wednesday 25th June. The booklet was developed by Monaghan County Council, Monaghan Integrated Development and the HSE to help older people across the County in their day-to-day life. The booklet was designed to support older people, their families, their carers and local service providers by providing information and contact details in areas such as Health, Transport, Money advice, Organisations that provide social activities and details on how to deal with an emergency. The booklet is aimed at providing older people with independence to make their own decisions.
