The Roadshow was opened by joint chair of Cavan Older People’s Council Carole Beattie who welcomed everyone and explained about what Cavan Older People’s Council is.  Attendees then heard presentations on various topics including Crime Prevention (An Garda Síochána), Climate Action (Cavan County Council), Falls Prevention (HSE) and took part in a Mindful Movement taster session facilitated by OPC Executive Committee member Patricia Crimin.  The event concluded with a brief talk on the importance of sport and physical activity by Cavan Sports Partnership and the opportunity to try Activator poles, and play games led by Cavan Sports Partnership.

There were a host of local agencies and service providers in attendance and there was lots of opportunity for those present to get information on topics of interest to them.

The event ended with a raffle and lunch.  It was encouraging to see so many older people attend the event which was the first Roadshow to take place in the West Cavan village and it led to some new members joining the Older People’s Council which is always good news.
