Last Thursday the Dementia Café held a Christmas party in Kildare Community Development CentreI. Our Healthy Age Friendly Homes Coordinator, Mary Gillan, was present for the festive fun.
The dementia café takes place on the last Thursday of the month from 2.30-4.30pm.
As well as a dementia café, Older Voice Kildare also host a range of other services such as a befriending service. Befriend Kildare is a befriending service that offers one-to-one companionship to older people who are feeling lonely or isolated, living in Kildare.
- Dressed as the grinch is HSE positive ageing manager Denise Croke from the HSE,
- The musicians are the fantastically locally famous mens shed band from Naas.
- The group were people who attend the dementia café and their families or carers.
- Mrs Claus is the coordinator of OVK and the dementia café Susan Higgins.
- Mary Gillian along with some of the previous Naas dementia café committee members before it was transferred to the Older voices service.
The Older Voice Kildare are building the confidence and capacity of all older persons in Co.Kildare, both as individuals and as members of their communities. Older Voices Kildare (OVK) is a social inclusion initiative that works with, and for, older people in Kildare, to support their wellbeing and enable their fullest participation in life as they age.
