Healthy Cavan recently funded and organised a varied and engaging 2 days of cross border wellbeing workshops and networking for older people from Cavan and Fermanagh.

Workshop 1, on the 23rd of September, involved a delegation of 16 participants from Cavan visiting the ARC Healthy living centre in Irvinestown, County Fermanagh, to engage with 15 compatriots from Fermanagh. This workshop, delivered by Roly McIntyre from the ARC, focused on a holistic view of health and how creating a positive outlook and setting life goals can help to improve all aspects of health and wellbeing. On a beautiful sunny day participants were also treated to a lovely stroll in the grounds of Castle Irvine Demesne.

Workshop 2, on the 2nd of October, saw the Fermanagh participants travel to Johnston Central Library in Cavan Town to reunite with their Cavan friends. This workshop was delivered by Orla Murphy from Reversible Health and focussed on 2 specific areas of health – the importance of good sleep and the importance of good nutrition. Participants were provided with some excellent information and techniques to help improve their health in these areas.

Feedback from all participants was very positive and they approached both days with great enthusiasm and a strong spirit of shared engagement. All left with a recognition of mutual health & wellbeing concerns and challenges shared by older people from both counties.
