Tipperary Older Peoples Council aim to meet 4 times a year, one of those dates includes the annual EXPO.   All older adult community groups and those that attend our events are notified of all the open full OPC meetings.

The executive of Tipperary Older Peoples Council meets 8 times a year, and may require additional attendance if on a project sub group.

The Executive have participated in training with Age and Opportunity.

The aspiration is to have membership on the Executive from all 5 Municipal Districts with a diverse membership. The full executive would have 15 to 20 members to include the Municipal Districts and any Age Friendly Towns.

  • Tipperary Older Peoples Council Executive took part in workshops on the development of Tipperary Local Economic and Community Plan
  • Tipperary OPC Executive facilitated as ambassadors and stewards at the annual Age Friendly EXPO in TUS college campus 2023
  • Tipperary Older Peoples Council hosted a Home Energy Support Event in January 2023
  • Tipperary Older Peoples Council hosted their Annual General Meeting in September 2023
  • Tipperary Older Peoples Council produced a newsletter in May 2023 which was circulated to all Community groups and distributed to all those attending the EXPO in June 2023.

Tipperary Older Peoples Council Executive have been very engaged in Dementia Awareness supporting the Alliance projects and led on the reminiscing project Back in my Day, with creating the topics and ensuring participation in the project. We have concluded 2 volumes on this project to date. The executive have also been involved with the promotion of An Garda Síochána Vulnerable Person Risk Register.

Tipperary Older Peoples Council Executive have been engaged also with housing information and supports and we have produced a Trusted Tradesman Guide to encourage those within the trade to engage positively with older people.   This code of conduct has been circulated to all builder providers in the county.

Tipperary Older Peoples Council hosted an open meeting in December 2023 to ascertain areas of interest and focus to inform the Age Friendly Implementation Plan 2024-2025.  Each table was facilitated by a member of the Executive.
