Kilkenny County Council Age Friendly Programme, The Older People’s Council, Kilkenny Recreation and Sports Partnership, HSE, An Garda and Kilkenny Library Service have teamed up to develop a programme of events and activities. Located in the new Mayfair Library, these events will provide an opportunity for older people to get advice on a wide range of topics including health and well-being, Healthy Age Friendly Homes and Safeguarding as well as offering a friendly space to meet others and chat.

Tea/coffee will be provided and library staff will be available to show people around the library and the range of services it offers.

This programme will run for 8 weeks with talks happening each Friday morning from 11am to 1pm.

The first talk will take place on Friday the 6th of September and facilitators, Cathriona Normoyle and Philip O’Reilly from the HSE Carlow/Kilkenny Integrated Care for the Older Persons (ICPOP) Team will deliver a talk on “Ageing Well in the Community”

This presentation will focus on positive ageing and how to prevent frailty in older adults. The team will demonstrate exercises that an older person can do at home. They will also discuss the importance of making a will, and advanced healthcare directives. The information session will also focus on other services in the community for older adults and how to access them.
