Older people from across County Carlow are invited to attend the Living Well Expo 2026, a free information and networking event taking place at the Mount Wolseley Hotel, Tullow, on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, from 9.30am to 1.00pm.

Hosted by the Carlow Older People’s Council with the support of the Carlow County Council Age Friendly Programme, the Expo will bring together a wide range of local organisations, community groups and service providers to help older people discover the services, supports and opportunities available in their communities.

The event will provide information, advice and practical support on a broad range of topics including:

  • Health and wellbeing
  • Community supports
  • Active ageing opportunities
  • Housing and home supports
  • Transport and mobility
  • Safety and security
  • Digital skills and technology
  • Recreation, hobbies and social activities

The Living Well Expo is designed to help older people stay informed, connected and independent while promoting positive ageing and community participation.

Speaking ahead of the event, Joe Butler, Chairperson of the Carlow Older People’s Council, encouraged older people from across the county to attend:

“The Living Well Expo is a fantastic opportunity for older people to learn about the many services, activities and supports available throughout County Carlow. Whether you are looking for health information, seeking to become more involved in your community, interested in learning new skills, or simply curious about what supports are available, there will be something of value for everyone. We look forward to welcoming older people, family members and carers to what promises to be an informative and enjoyable morning.”

Martha Jane Duggan, Age Friendly Programme Manager with Carlow County Council, highlighted the importance of bringing information directly to older people:

“One of the key goals of the Age Friendly Programme is ensuring that older people have access to the information and supports they need to continue living active, healthy and independent lives. The Living Well Expo provides a unique opportunity to meet local service providers face-to-face, ask questions and discover opportunities that can enhance wellbeing and quality of life. We want older people to leave the event feeling informed, empowered and connected.”

Ms Duggan also announced that the Age Friendly Office will assist community groups wishing to attend:

“To help ensure that as many people as possible can attend, the Age Friendly Office of Carlow County Council can arrange group transport by bus for older people’s groups and community organisations on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage groups who may require assistance with transport to contact us as early as possible.”

Welcoming the initiative, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, Cllr Tommy Kinsella, praised the collaborative effort behind the event:

“Carlow County Council is proud to support initiatives that help make County Carlow a great place in which to grow older. The Living Well Expo reflects the strong partnership that exists between the Older People’s Council, community organisations and statutory agencies in supporting older members of our communities. I encourage people from every part of the county to take the opportunity to attend, meet local organisations and find out about the many services and activities available to them.”

Admission to the Living Well Expo is free and attendees will have the opportunity to meet representatives from a wide range of agencies, community groups and support services, all in one accessible location.

The event is being organised by the Carlow Older People’s Council with the support of the Carlow County Council Age Friendly Programme, in partnership with local agencies and community organisations.
