Wednesday, March 26th Games Night— Come to our board games event supported by Hasbro Games. Bring along your friends, family, grandchildren, etc. Light refreshments will be served. Thursday March 27th – Writing for Young Minds: Crafting Stories That Inspire and Delight – a sixteen-week programme over Spring and Autumn focusing on writing for children aged 6-9 and 8 – 12. The programme will be delivered by author and illustrator Ms. Ciara Galvin. It will be held in Room HG13, the School of Nursing (Glasnevin Campus), from 10 – 12 on Thursday mornings. It is a wonderful legacy to leave for grandchildren, and the stories will be published in a book later in the year. The cost for the programme is €50.00. Read more about the module and register here

- May 1st Ageless Expressions will showcase the fabulous work from the AFU Creative Classes – we are looking forward to receiving the creative outputs you have been working on since last September – art work, botanical art, photography and creative writing – all welcome. We had over 80 items in last years exhibition and hope to have even more this year. The event will take place in the Interfaith Centre. More details to follow
- Saturday May 3rd, Paintalong with Mary 10 – 1pm St Patrick’s Campus DCU (€20 per couple)

- Visits to the Hurdy Gurdy Museum Howth – (not suitable for those with mobility problems) €5.00 per person, limited numbers
The Ye Olde Hurdy-Gurdy Museum of Vintage Radio is located in the Martello Tower in Howth, County Dublin, and houses a collection of exhibits chronicling the history of telecommunications from the 1840s to present day. It is the vast collection of one man, Pat Herbert and boasts many examples of early Morse equipment, gramophones, crystal sets, valve radios and other pieces of equipment. Additionally, you’ll find music boxes, posters, photographs, telegrams, batteries, needle boxes, early TVs, stamps, household items and more. It’s a gadget lover’s paradise. It is a small venue and therefore numbers are limited. Please choose from one of the two dates listed below:

Calling all Poets – Bookmarked – a DCU Poetry Initiative
As part of Bookmarked, a six-month literature initiative in Drumcondra, DCU Arts and Culture is collaborating with Poetry Ireland for Poetry Day Ireland, which takes place on 1st May 2025.DCU is inviting poetry submissions for this occasion, and the theme for this year is May Day.
The theme ‘May Day’ is a rich and fertile source of poetic inspiration. It draws from traditions such as the Bealtaine fire festival, symbolising renewal and hope, and International Workers’ Day, a time to reflect on solidarity and collective strength.
Twelve poems (three in Irish and nine in English) will be selected to feature on large posters in the windows of local businesses and St. Patrick’s campus, alongside the official Poetry Ireland poetry selection.
Participants are asked to send a maximum of two poems in English to or Irish to . Poems should not exceed 20 lines. The deadline for submissions is Friday, 4th April. The final poems will be selected by Poet Anne Tannam (English) and DCU Irish Language Writer in Residence Réaltán Ní Leannáin (Irish).
