South Dublin Age Friendly Programme
South Dublin Older People’s Council, meet once a month – a new committee of 18 members were elected onto the council in September 2022. Of the 18 members there is an executive committee of 5 individuals whose roles include Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, and PRO/ Communications Officers.
A terms of reference was drawn up and training was offered to all members in relation to the roles and responsibilities of being a committee member. As well as training on the Ethos & Core Values of the National Age Friendly Programme and how this programme can positively impact the lives of the older people living in the administrative South Dublin County.
Action Plan
An action plan of 43 actions were identified covering the WHO Liveability themes, these have been assigned to 1 – 2 year, 3 year or 5 year completion programme. The Older Peoples Council identified that a better communication pathway must be developed for older people to access information about services, community & social programmes in the community they live in as well as funding opportunities available from the County Council. An information leaflet was developed to inform the older community about the older people’s council and actions that will be addressed this year.
Age Friendly Alliance
The Age Friendly Alliance meet quarterly throughout the year. The members of the Alliance represent the social, health, community, transport, safety & security sectors with responsibility for service provision to the older adults living within the administrative area of South Dublin County.
