The Dublin City Council area – given its population size, is divided into 5 Older Persons Councils based on the Administrative areas of Dublin City.
They are North West Area OPC, North Central Area OPC, South Central Area OPC, South East Area OPC and the Central Area OPC.
The executives of each meet in general once a quarter and discuss issues that are important to the group locally particularly activities taking place in the local area and wider issues affecting older people. The OPC Executives are linked to the wider population through the local area community development team’s wider database of local groups. Since COVID, one of the key issues OPC’s have worked on is getting the word out there – in relation to activities currently on in their respective areas.
