The weather forecast is great for next week so why not come out and join us at the Natonal Ploughing Championship in Ratheniska, Co. Laois.  We are delighted to be in the Housing for All marquee in Government of Ireland Village this year – you’ll find us on Row 11 and we’re Stand 172. 

You can find out about Age Friendly Ireland and what’s available to you via your local Age Friendly Programme.  We can tell you about your Older People’s Council and the important role they play in shaping communities for our ageing demographic and more importantly – how you can join it.  We will have representatives from our Healthy Age Friendly Homes Programme on the stand to tell you all about the programme, how it can benefit you, how you can make a referral into it and the contact details.  We also have our Age Friendly Technical Advisors there to advise you on how to ensure your home is equipped to allow you to continue to live in it as you age with independence.  They will have a rating tool that you can take home with you to check out how Age Friendly your home is.   Our Age Friendly Ireland staff can give you the contact details for your local Age Friendly Programme Manager, AF Tech Advisor – no matter which Local Authority Area you live in.

There are shuttle busses from Portlaoise Train Station, Ratheniska village, Portarlington and Athy train stations,  senior citizen return is €12 and you can get the timetable on the NPA website (www.npa.ie)
