On a lovely warm Monday evening, the RAMS, Retired Active Men’s Social, headed off to the Naas races, and to view the runners for the Punchastown Festival.
20 of our members availed of this wonderful afternoon, and with good spirits (no alcohol) we were pick up at the Community centre at 3.30pm, by our now main man Premier coaches.
The Naas racecourse is now an Age Friendly race course, and we were treated with such dignity and respect. The staffs were wonderful to us, and made us feel so welcome.

Pre booking was required and we received the senior’s special rate of €25 per person including, food voucher, €5 complimentary bet , free pint, race card.
Although many of our members are not racehorse goers, they were lifted into the spirit of the evening, with the cheers from all the other punters, a few drinks too wet our whistles, and the Nass atmosphere, certainly got us all in the cheering mood.
With a number of our members winning in the first and second race, the crack was mighty.
The last race at 8.10 pm was a make or break the bank, so any winnings were placed on the favourite.
Return coach back to our local Annie May’s for a final “one for the road”. Great day out by all our members.
Our next major event is the RAMS in Rhythm in St Finian’s School for the 200th Anniversary of the foundation of the National school.
The RAMS will perform from 9.30 am to 11 am and sing many of their favourite songs for the joy of the schoolchildren, staff, and visitors.
The RAMS donated a large Congratulations cake to the school for the enjoyment of all the children.
The schoolchildren really enjoyed Molly Malone, and to the delight of all present.
