Roscommon County Council hosted Age Friendly Housing & Public Realm Training on 10th June 2026, bringing together staff from a wide range of Council sections to enhance knowledge and collaboration in creating more inclusive communities. The training supports the Council’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that housing design and public spaces meet the needs of an ageing population, enabling older people to live safely, independently and actively within their communities while promoting best practice across all areas of service delivery.
The session opened with a welcome address from Shane Tiernan, Roscommon County Council’s Chief Executive, Roscommon County Council. He highlighted the importance of inclusive design and collaboration in supporting an ageing population and encouraged staff to apply universal design principles across housing and public realm projects, ensuring accessibility and sustainability for all.
