RAMS

We the Retired Active Men’s Social & the RAMS in Rhythm were so pleased to receive a surprise visit to our group, from the Dublin Simon Community.

The RAMS have been supporting the Dublin Simon Community for the past three years, by fundraising for them in various venues, including The Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, at Christmas, and in the Mill Shopping Centre Clondalkin.

We are very pleased to have raised in excess of €5,000 for their charity, and the tremendous work the Dublin Simon do to prevent homelessness.

[Dublin Simon Community works to prevent and address homelessness in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. We provide services at all stages of homelessness and enable people to move to a place they can call home.]

The presentation was made to our Musical director, Mr Liam O Donnell, by Gay Mooney, a representative of Simon. Our Musical Director Liam & The RAMS, work tirelessly to support many charities, and support many Community events who are fundraising for their own special needs.

Our photo shows the RAMS members receiving their plaque of appreciation from Gay Mooney.

The Simon Community have engaged The RAMS in Rhythm to perform and sing for their charity again in December, in The Liffey Valley Shopping centre, as part of their Christmas appeal.

In 2024, RAMS donated over €45,000 to various charities, and helped other charities to raise funds for their cause.

Our main supported charities, are

  • Capuchin Day centre Bow Street, Dublin
  • 4 district St Vincent de Paul
  • Down syndrome Kildare
  • Our Lady’s Hospice Harold’s Cross.

On the 17th March, The RAMS will be entertaining the audience at the Court House Rathcoole, for the St Patrick;s day  parade, and we will be singing from 12 noon, and when after the parade has passed.

We have been busy practising our new number for this great event.

26th March is National Daffodil Day, and again the RAMS in Rhythm will be fundraising, for this great cause, in the Square Tallaght , for the Irish Cancer Society.

Never a dull moment with the RAMS, as we almost have a full calendar of events for the year end 2025. Our members are so pleased to sing and perform, and with great pride, to see our charities benefit from our singing.

Our membership includes men for the village of Newcastle, Rathcoole, Lucan, Clondalkin, and Tallaght.

The RAMS have a weekly activity morning every Thursday in the Community centre Newcastle from 10 am, enjoying activities of pool, table tennis, socialising, eats and treats.
