Our Age Friendly Programme Manager as chair of Comhairle na nÓg, extended an invite to Alison McCarthy, National activities co-ordinator with the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland, to join the Comhairle na nÓg steering group meeting last Friday 23rd of May. Comhairle na nÓg are local councils for young people between the ages of 12-17, allowing them to be involved in decision making both locally & nationally.  Alison gave a short presentation to the group on Creating a Dementia Inclusive Generation- Youth Programme.” The programme aims to educate young people about dementia, to help reduce the stigma & raise awareness. The programme’s purpose is to change attitudes & build knowledge to help reduce the loneliness & isolation experienced by people living with dementia. This provides the opportunity for intergenerational learning between second level students & people living with dementia.
