Tipperary County Council has proudly launched a new Cultural Companions group in Clonmel – a heart-warming initiative that brings older adults together through shared cultural experiences.

Cultural Companions 25.06.25

The group, part of the Age and Opportunity programme, helps tackle social isolation by connecting like-minded individuals who enjoy theatre, concerts, exhibitions, and more. With over 20 active members already, the Clonmel group is thriving and welcoming new faces.

“Its about friendship, connection, and enjoying all that Tipperary’s cultural scene has to offer”, said Eoin Kaar, Healthy Tipperary Co-ordinator. Membership is free, and events are already drawing strong interest.

“Joining Cultural Companions has been a breath of fresh air” said Mary, one of the founding members. “I’ve met wonderful people and enjoyed meet ups and events I wouldn’t have gone to on my own. It’s really opened up a whole new world for me”.

Supported by Tipperary Age Friendly and Healthy Tipperary, the initiative is expected to expand across the county, bringing the joy of connection and culture to more communities.
