Launch of the Dublin City Council South Central Area Older People’s Council

Age Friendly Ireland | Local | Dublin City South Central Area

On Wednesday the 15th of October we celebrated the strategic launch of Dublin City Council South Central Area (DCC SCA) Older People’s Council. We would like to thank Elected Councillors Vincent Jackson, Ray Cunningham, and Lesley Byrne for officially launching the Council.

The Older People’s Council (OPC) affords members the opportunity to highlight the concerns of older people at the forefront of decision-making processes, locally, regionally, and nationally. People can join the OPC as a member to receive information regarding Age Friendly activities and initiatives in their area or as a member of the executive committee to advocate for older people in their locality.

Dublin City Council South Central Area (DCC SCA) is seeking people over the age of 55 to get involved and unify as a truly representative voice for older people through the OPC. By joining the OPC people are mobilised to use their voice and influence policy that directly affects Irelands ageing population. The knowledge and wisdom of age is a tool vastly underutilised in society. In the words of W.B. Yeats “The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper”.

For more information regarding the OPC please contact Aoife Hannan, DCC SCA Age Friendly Programme Manager at  or phone (01)222 4664. If you wish to apply for the OPC please use the link below. https://forms.office.com/e/wTLtSdpTRd?origin=lprLink  “
