What is an Age Friendly Alliance
The Age Friendly Alliance is a high-level cross-sector group, often chaired by the local authority Chief Executive, whose member agencies form an overarching strategic partnership to develop and oversee the realisation of the Age Friendly City or County Strategy.
Chairs of Alliances
Chaired by Mr Pat Dowling, Chief Executive, Clare County Council, the National Network of local Age Friendly Alliance Chairs comprises all 31 local authority Chief Executives and 11 Independent Chairs.
The group convenes quarterly and provides a forum for key input into the national programmes strategic plan and enables implementation.
Chief Executives of local authorities have played the critical leadership role in enabling the programme to progress over the last 10 years and their continued leadership and expertise to the shared services national co-ordination office is critical.
