Waterford Older People’s Council Executive is made up of 15 members and meets on the second Tuesday of each month – rotating between Waterford city and Dungarvan.
The Executive is currently devoting much of its time to progressing, with other stakeholders, the objectives outlined in the Waterford Age Friendly Strategy 2023-2028.
The Age Friendly Waterford Programme Manager and OPC Executive members have been hosting pop up stands in public places, at community events and meeting community groups to raise awareness of the Age Friendly Waterford Programme.
In addition, the OPC is heavily involved in organising and hosting a range of activities for Positive Ageing Week and the annual Bealtaine Festival.
Its vice chairperson has recently organised and hosted Tuesdays at Woodhouse which is a new platform focussing on music, song, storytelling and poetry performed by older people for older people.
