The Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI) Care Awards, in association with Homecare Medical, are the foremost national celebration of excellence in nursing home care. Held annually, the Awards honour the exceptional individuals and teams who deliver compassionate, person-centred care to over 27,000 residents in nursing homes across the country.

The NHI Care Awards shine a spotlight on the dedication, professionalism and humanity that define quality care for older people in our communities. They acknowledge excellence across a wide range of disciplines, clinical, administrative, wellbeing, hospitality and beyond, and affirm the central role of nursing homes in the fabric of Irish society.

Nominations are now open for the 2025 NHI Care Awards, which will take place as an evening celebration on Thursday, 6 November 2025. This year’s programme includes reintroduced categories and a newly introduced award in tribute to our late colleague, Olivia Slater, a much-loved figure in the NHI community who passed away in January.

The Olivia Slater Award – Administrator of the Year honours those who bring warmth, empathy and exceptional organisational skill to the heart of nursing home life.

Award Categories:
• Olivia Slater Award – Administrator of the Year
• Director of Nursing of the Year
• Resident Achievement Award
• Quality Enhancement Award
• Team of the Year
• General Awards (five recipients)

Each award is designed to recognise excellence, leadership, innovation and the positive impact made by individuals or teams working within NHI Member nursing homes.
