Day 2 saw Catherine McGuigan, introducing the morning session and the guest panelist. Mark Harrington, National Manager of the Healthy Age Friendly Homes Programme,spoke about how the Healthy Age Friendly Homes programme supports older people to live in their own home with dignity and independence, for as long as possible

Aine Flynn, Director of Decision Support Services, shared important information around Assisted Decision Making (capacity) Act 2015. Garret Doocey, Assistant Secretary, Department of Transport discussed the departments vision in relation to land transport in Ireland. Finally Diarmuid Angland, Specialist, Department of Finance discussed the development of the National Payments Strategy for Ireland.

A short break was then had but the table discussions started. Older People Council members discussed their priorities for the year ahead. After feedback was given from everyone in the room, we had the pleasure of Mary Butler TD, Minister of State in Department of Health
Mental Health and Older People who addressed the National OPC Convention.

Ita Healy, Chair of the National Network of Older People’s Councils then said a few words, followed by Lar Power, Chief Executive Kilkenny County Council who closed of the Convention.
