Climate Conversation over a cup of tea

Age Friendly Ireland | Newsletters | Kildare

Kildare CC

A free Climate programme will be starting on the 27th March 2025 in Maynooth Community Church is designed for over 60s, but not strictly to that age group.

The programme is supported by Kildare County Council Climate Action Office and led by retired UN diplomat Jacinta Barrins. By encouraging conversations in a relaxed and open atmosphere Jacinta will explain in simple terms how everyday actions, like making a cup of tea or taking a shower are connected to climate change. Once the terms used in climate science are unravelled and demystified older people confidence about taking action can grow.

The sessions will take place on Thursday mornings – 10.30 am to 12.30 pm – in Maynooth Community Church, Dublin Road, Maynooth, W23 PO2A.

Refreshments will be provided on the day.

Other optional sessions during the break periods could include a visit to the Kildare County Council Demo Retrofit House in Meadowbrook Maynooth, (recently featured on RTEs Nationwide programme) and a Walk and Talk through the Maynooth University Biodiversity Trail including a visit to the Edible Garden.   The dates for the optional sessions to be confirmed.
