Celebrate Creativity and Connection with Cork Cultural Companions this Bealtaine 2025

Cork Cultural Companions are pleased to share their programme of events for Bealtaine 2025, part of the national festival that celebrates creativity as we age. Throughout May, a range of workshops, music sessions, and cultural activities will take place across Cork City and County.

Organised by Cork County Federation of Muintir na Tíre, the programme offers opportunities for older adults to participate in accessible, social, and creative experiences.

Programme Highlights Include:

  • A Celebration of the Stories of Eamon KellyTuesday, May 6th, 2:30pm, Killeagh Hall. Presented by Muintir na Tíre Cork in association with the Killeagh/Inch Monday Club, this live performance by Pakie O’Callaghan honours the work of one of Ireland’s most beloved storytellers. The event includes refreshments and a short talk on healthy living by HSE’s Marian O’Reilly. Tickets (€10) available at the door.
  • Back to the 60s Friday May 30th, 5pm Mallow
     Live music in Mallow featuring a Beatles tribute by Girish Paul, with a 60s-themed quiz, fancy dress and dancing.
  • Bere Island Cultural Trip & Guided Tour of Lonehort Battery Saturday, 17th May A group day-trip to Bere Island with a guided tour of the historic Lonehort Battery, offering insight into the island’s military history. Booking is essential; spaces limited.
  • Plant Medicine & Skincare WorkshopMay 8th, 11.30am Kinship Ecolab
     A practical session focused on traditional plant remedies and natural skincare, guided by Aurora Planells and Gabi Mariposa.
  • Deep Ecology & Creativity WorkshopMay 17th, Kinship Ecolab
     Led by Paddy Doyle, this workshop explores personal and environmental reflection through discussion and creative activity.
  • Music for WellbeingMay 21st, Cork City Library
     A relaxed group singing session with Lady Fi, designed to support well-being and confidence. With an introduction to the Veeh Harp by Eithne Muscheidt, a highly accessible musical instrument suitable for all skill levels.
  • Island City Urban Sculpture Trail – Guided Tour May 29th 2pm City Centre
     A walking tour of public artworks in Cork City, coordinated by Sample Studios. The tour explores contemporary sculpture and includes accessibility supports such as ISL interpretation and audio descriptions (booking required).

All events are free, but places are limited and must be booked in advance.
