OPC Intergeneration & Community tablets for older people
Funding has been provided from the LA to our OPC to purchase Acorn tablets which will be used as follows: – 6 tablets will go to a secondary school transition year students to use as part of an intergenerational project training older people in technology – 2 tablets will go to the Alzheimers Society and their carers to enable their clients to stay connected – 2 tablets will go to a local Day Care Centre to enable residents to receive training and stay connected

Social prescribing for those aged over 55 living in the D15 area
Penpals Initiative
Clare Comhairle na nOg – the local youth parliament wanted to run an intergenerational project where their students could reach out to older people, like pen pals.
Physical – Digifit Staying Connected – ACORN Tablets Cocooning Booklets & Age Friendly Magazine (information on food/health/wellbeing)
Booklets distributed to all homes & older people’s groups information in booklet on health/wellbeing/reading/ puzzles
Physical Activity during Covid
Encourage physical activity among people who are socially isolated and at higher risk of for a variety of physical and mental conditions (particularly aimed at the older generation who are less active due to mobility issues and who are cocooning during covid)
Planters for Nursing Homes project with Mens Sheds in Kerry
This project involved Men’s Sheds working on seasonal planters for Nursing Homes
Playful Paradigm (Play Packs)
The Senior Play Packs are part of the KEEP WELL campaign brought to the community with thanks to Healthy Ireland an initiative of the Government of Ireland with funding from the Healthy Ireland Fund and the Sláintecare fund delivered by Pobal.
