Description
We at moving age have started to record and collect stories from our women and women of other community groups and hope to publish some of these short stories, songs and poems in tge form of a booklet. We came up with the idea during and after Covid as sadly we lost a few of our members. We noted at the time how they loved to tell stories and it was remarked at the time that these stories unfortunately had died with these women. Majella Nunan moving age coordinator then came up with the idea of involving other community groups in Corks Northside, recording and collecting these stories. Many of these women had been involved in a International womens day event with Cork City Partnership in 2023 where they penned a song called “Women” and Majella has received permission from CDP to include this song in the booklet. It is hoped that the booklet of short stories, poems and song will be published and launched in time for the local Christmas Markets in Dec 2024. The idea is to encourage the women to remember the good, bad and not so bad times. We hope that it encourages communication skills between the different groups, a sence of inclusion for all and also a massive sence of pride to the local women of Corks Northside.
