Description
Book review on local radio station, participants are members of the Older Person Council. This initiative was brought about to give those people not interested in online activities and opportunity to participate in easy to access event. Radio Book Club in held with Castlebar Local Radio Station every 5 / 6 weeks. Members of the OPC have been reviewers so far but we are going to extend this invite to wider public. Age Friendly Mayo provide free copies of the book to those interested. Age Friendly has got some really positive responses to this initiative, “well done on this brilliant initiative, can’t wait to tune in”, “I am a man in my 80’s and welcome the opportunity to tune into your book club”.

- There arae numerous events online, but not all are “equipped” or trained on how to navigate or access online activities
- Radio is easy to access
- Reading a book is always a good way to “switch off”, being a member of a book club encourages people to read.
