As a community alert group in operation now for 28 years,we work closely with the elderly as each committee member has there own area to be responsible for.We held a property marking evening giving everyone the opportunity to make their property safe and if stolen it could be identified.We also assist elderly to apply for moniroted alarm systems and we also encourage elderly to allow us to fit smoke alarms which is provided by monaghan cocunty council

Aim of Initiative

To make sure elderly are happy and safe in there own homes

Who is it aimed at

It is aimed at saveft as we would like to be able to fit carbon monoxide units in all the elderly homes.We also want to help to prevent isolation by organising a evening get togather for the elderly so they can chat to their neighbours

3 Steps critical to success

1. Funding is the number one problem
2. To prevent isolation we need more support from community garda in rural areas
3. We need support to high light the text alert scheme,this is a good way to get our young people involved as they are up to date with modern technology

3 Challenges in Planning / Delivery

1. Funding is a big drawback in the community
2. Not enough interaction with the comunity garda,as we have no garda in Rockcorry or Newbliss station
3. Again to organise any event we have to pay for the local community hall

3 Outcomes / Benefits

1. Elderly would be more procted in their own homes
2. It is so important for elderly to meet with their neighbours and have a good old chat
3. For elderly and everyone to know that their property is safe
