Description
A Teddy Bears Picnic bringing younger & older members of the community together with their Teddy Bears. A social event encouraging Older People to socialise in a safe Covid compliant manner This was a collaboration between members of the Offaly Age Friendly Alliance. Offaly Co. Co. Offaly PPN, The Gardai and Offaly Local Development Company. The aim: To create an event that would encourage older people to attend in a safe environment. A Community facility was identified with a large outdoor area. Refreshments were organised, a musician, a Clown, A Mobile Pet farm and Bingo and marquee. The Gardai also had a car and equipment that young and old could investigate. the objective: A great afternoon of socialising mixed with entertainment, was successfully achieved. There was a collective approach to resources including AF funding in conjunction with OLDC SICAP funding the event. The Teddy Bears Picnic was also a fundraiser for the Gardai ‘Little Blue Hero’s’ It was a very successful event with young and older enjoying the opportunity to attend a well managed, safe entertaining afternoon.
