communication with loved ones through media devices

Description

To enable face to face conversations and connections there were internet capable devices issued to each unit. the numbers were shared with families and face time calls were encuraged and supported enabling ongoing connectivity to loved ones.

1. communication to residents and support to use the devices
2. communication to families and support to enable calls
3. the challenges were around familiarity with the devices and user friendliness of the devices

Challenges in Planning / Delivery

1. cnnectivity to internet as it is sporadic in the hospital
2. ensuring that staff had capacity to assist with non planned calls.
3. ongoing connection and face to face asssurances to loved ones

Outcomes / Benefits

1. enablement of communication to families even when they are abroad
2. ease of access meant it was flexible
3. Paid Staff / Financial / internet support for the devices
