Description
The second year students of Ballyhaunis Community School created “lino print” Christmas cards for those living alone / older people in the area. The Community Garda provided a list of names to the school. The students also wrote a letter for their assigned person. The Garda delivered these cards and letters (with an Age Friendly pack) to the people on list. The visit and card was very warmly welcomed by the recipients. Age Friendly Mayo who coordinated this initiative, would like to extend thanks to Ms. Lennon, the Art teacher and her class in Ballyhaunis Community School and the Community Guard for assisting with this Christmas project.

Challenges in Planning / Delivery
- Covid delayed process pupils and or teachers had times to quarantine, and Christmas was deadline as project was a Christmas project
Outcomes / Benefits
- It was a method of connecting with people
- Card and pack also included AF merchandise and essential information leaflet, so useful information was also being provided
- A positive initiative at Christmas, recipients welcomed the gesture and welcomed the visit.
