Who is it aimed at
This was aimed at mainly the elderly but through one of our family resource centres some care packs were distributed to vulnerable families.
Steps critical to success
- Funding to ensure items were purchased
- Cooperation with the Civil defence in putting together and distribution of the packs
- Relationships with our age friendly groups ensuring the care packs went to the right people
Challenges in Planning / Delivery
- Ensuring the distribution covered as many areas as possible throughout Westmeath
- Without the help of the Civil defence in their bag filling production line operation, we would not have had these distributed before Christmas
- Purchasing up to 1000 bags and items to fill the bags from local shops proved to be quite challenging.
Outcomes / Benefits
- Feedback from our elderly members was extremely positive.
- Stronger relationship with our age friendly community groups
- A great feeling within the community Dept. of achieving something that was so appreciated.
