Description
This Age Friendly Waterford free event, in association with Healthy Waterford, UPMC Whitfield and Waterford City and County Council, will showcase the services, supports and activities available to older people.
On the day there will be over 50 exhibition stands including An Garda Síochána, Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB), HSE, SETU Lifelong Learning, ALONE, Waterford Volunteer Centre, Waterford Libraries, Fire Services, Waterford Sports Partnership and Local Link
Aim of Initiative
“By collectively working together, we hope to unite and support those who have contributed to our city and county throughout their lives. We hope this will be the first of many events of its kind for Waterford.”

- Build relationships with and collaborating with key stakeholders, I.e Older People’s Council, Age Friendly, UPMC, Healthy Waterford
- Organising Logosit of venue and communication
- Media Coverage local regional and national
3 Challenges in Planning / Delivery
- Communication with event details to older people who are experiencing social isolation
- Transport was a challenge to bring from rural locations
- Event was organised in a four week period and great learnings were made. This was taking place amongst other key responsibilities at the time

- Brought together 1500 older people from Waterford.
- Descendention of information to key stakeholders and better understanding of Age Friendly Programme
- Connected older people to key services and linked in with Age Friendly thematic areas. All areas were delivered
