Who is it aimed at
Active retired members.
3 Steps critical to success
- Ensuring the farmyard was suitable for walking for all persons no matter how active.
- Ensuring animals weren’t overwhelmed by large groups so breaking the group down into 3-4 person groups and roasting them around the different animal pens.
- Having enough tools and buckets so that everyone got to feed the animals and plant the vegetables.
3 Challenges in Planning / Delivery
- Weather dependant so mainly spring summer and autumn visits.
- People from non farm backgrounds getting involved and giving them extra time to get use to the animals.
- Ensuring larger groups were supervised correctly.
3 Outcomes / Benefits
- Older persons loved meeting and petting the animals, they benefitted from the calmness of all.
- Sense of achievement from feeding the animals and planting the summer vegetables.
- Helping each other navigate the farm yard and helping each other to feed the bay and water.
