WHO Theme: Respect and Social Inclusion, Social Participation
Cost: 0 – 500
Status: Completed
Description
Each member of a group supplied a question related to our community, we compiled the questions into a document called “50 questions on Kilmihil Quiz”, we sold each quiz sheet for €10 raising €1100 for group to pay for day trips.
Some of these questions you would not find the answers in a book so our active retired group had to be spoken to by the younger generations to receive the answers.
This quiz was the talk of the parish and further afield as the diaspora got involved too.
We received extremely positive feedback from everyone on how all generations got involved with each other to seek out the answers.
Our local primary school’s 5th & 6th class won the quiz!
Aim of Initiative
The main aim was to get all generations talking to seek out the answers.
Who is it aimed at
All age groups having to speak woth the older generation to find out the answers.
3 Steps critical to success
- Selecting good questions on our parish’s history but also questions that the answers weren’t too commonly known.
- Typing and distributing the quiz sheets.
- Correcting the quiz sheets with a team of 5 people
3 Challenges in Planning / Delivery
- Selecting appropriate questions
- Making sure the public nee the answers were in our community, we just wanted them to go speak and ask our active retired group
- We have 3 weeks for the answers to be returned to us, we possibly could’ve waited 4weeks. 50 questions is a lot to face into.
3 Outcomes / Benefits
- Our parish was buzzing with talk of the answers, all generations got involved and spoke to each other
- Our active retired group were very proud of their project and liked being asked for answers.
- We have been asked to run it again next year.
