On the 4th June 2015 Wexford Age Friendly Programme held its first Age Friendly Alliance meeting. Chaired by the Chief Executive of Wexford County Council – Mr Tom Enright, senior representatives from the Local Authority (including the chair of the LCDC), Age Equality Network Wexford, HSE, Gardaí Siochána, Rural Link, Carlow IT (Wexford Campus), Diocese of Ferns, and Age Friendly Ireland gathered to set in motion the programme. This was an important step in the journey of Wexford becoming an Age Friendly County. Over the next few months work will start to carry out extensive consultation with older people throughout the county that will shape the Age Friendly Strategy for Wexford.
